Volunteering

Picture
“There are all sorts of service to be done but always for the same Lord.” Corinthians 12:5

We all have our talents and gifts from God and our parish community relies heavily on each and every parishioner who is ready and willing to give of their time and talent in serving Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

Depending on the amount of time you can give, there are many ways to serve your community.

Some examples include:
  • Participating on the Parish Roster to serve as a reader, altar server, or Eucharistic minister
  • Providing hospitality services at funerals or at weekend mass
  • As a member of Legion of Mary, visiting the elderly and housebound
  • Assisting in the care and preparation of our Church Liturgy
  • Working with our parish Youth Group
  • Cathechism in state schools within our Parish
  • Assisting with baptism preparation or preparing childrent for the sacramental program
  • Providing support to the Fundraising committee at parish events
  • Assisting the St Vincent de Paul Conferences within our parish
  • Leading and participating in prayer groups, such as Mothers Prayers
  • Being a part of the Passionist Family Group outings
  • Assisting with Dinner in the Park
  • Joining the Pastoral Council

For a number of these activities, where you are with the young, elderly or vulnerable people, you may be required to obtain a Volunteer Blue Card or obtain a Police Check. If this is required you will be advised by the Parish Office, and all costs will be met by the parish.

Volunteers play a very important role in our parish life. To ensure best practice in the care and concern for those giving of their time and talents the following policies apply:
  • Volunteering Policy (PDF)
  • Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Prevention and Protection Policy
