Confirmation, Reconciliation and First Eucharist are celebrated annually within our Parish.

Formal preparation to receive Sacrament of 1st Holy Eucharist 2026 includes –

Parent Information session – Monday 27 April  at 4pm in Sacred Heart Church

Enrolment Mass

• 9 May, 5.30pm Mass Brighton; or
• 10 May, 9am Mass Sandgate

Formal Workshops – 3.30pm – 5.00pm, Brighton Parish Hall, Greenwood St, Brighton

• Workshop 1 – 16 May      Workshop 2 -30 May
• Reconciliation activity presented by all children at weekend Masses (6/7 June)

• Wednesday, 10 June 6.30pm in Sacred Heart Church

Sacrament of 1st Holy Eucharist

• Saturday 13 June, 2026, Brighton; or
• Sunday 14 June, 2026, Sandgate

This page outlines the Sacramental Preparation Program for school age children wishing to receive these Sacraments. If you have left school and are interested in receiving the blessings these Sacraments bring, then please refer to the RCIA program.

Once baptised, the next step in full initiation into the faith is the following sacraments:

• Confirmation in the year your child turns eight
• First Eucharist (including 1st Rite Reconciliation) in the year your child turns nine
• Preparation for each sacrament normally involves parents attending an information session with the priest, parents with their children attending workshops, activities with the family at home and celebration of the sacraments themselves.
• Regular weekend mass attendance with their families is also a critical part of each child’s preparation.
